Charlie, There is a fly out there called an "Ultimate Worm" that was inspired by Jack Gartside and his "Wiggle Worm" fly. It's essentially a chenille worm tied on a worm hook. It is weedless and has a great, seductive action but is obviously not a bait fish imitator. Rich McElligott introduced me to this fly. It's really clever. There is a lot more to it than just chenille tied like a work on a fly and it has no mono weed guard, the chenille itself acts as a weed guard much like a Senko worm does. I have yet to use it but Rich sent me one and I really admire it for it's design. It might be something you want to see. Here is a link to a few of Rich's creations. Unfortunately the "Ultimate Worm" is not pictured here.
