Charlie, that is exactly right but with an emphasis on the last point you make about the materials tied behind the belly being drag free....per your observations and Dan's as well. You can force bulky materials to dart if you add a ton of weight, but then you are working at cross purposes. In looking at the Zoom Super Fluke or Bass Assassin plastic they are simple little things but have action that leaves you slack jawed. If you are at all game, try the "Easy Fly" in the second sequence. Don't use an epoxy head, just the deceiver hackles and the plush chenille (and of course the weight). It works like a charm and is sooooo simple, just like the fluke. In that design lies the essence of what makes the thing work and you can build out from there, using bait fish emulator flash, craft fur, marabou, cross cut bunny strip or any other supple material. But add a stiff throat material and the thing dies. Anyway, I'm very excited to hear that rear weighting flies interests you and can't wait to see what you come up with. I really wish you would start taking some pics of your creations!! Dave
