Well said Dan. And Jbird, I don't resent your opinion on this. However, if you slammed sails or roosters down in baja on a trolled fly (which you can do, relative to fly casting, with ease) and proceeded to tell the world that you caught tons of roosters and sails on the fly and maybe even got cocky and said you didn't see what the big deal was.......well, you might have a problem with the guy who fishes at the expense of all else to sight cast to a grande rooster from the beach only to be disappointed year in and year out and then have some guy say to said angler "you know, that Jbird doesn't have a problem catching these fish, maybe you should ask him for advice?" Grrrrrrrrrrr. That pisses me off just thinking about it. But if you were to troll to your hearts delight and say you love trolling the fly for sails and roosters, then then I say, "knock yourself out", and so would every angler I know. And finally, remember this is a sport, not a matter of simply hooking and bringing to hand a fish no matter the technique. In the context of the sport of fly fishing, there are rules and the IGFA in the sport of angling is the ruling body. For the fly rod in "fair caught" fishing, the boat must be OUT OF GEAR with the fly presented to the fish without the aid of trolling. If you reject those rules for the purpose of hooking fish, then tell on yourself as Dan stated and you are a hero, deceive, and you are, well, deceptive. It's that simple. Hope this clarifies a little.
