Or those days long past on the "ponds" in Maine in an Oldtown canvas canoe trolling for landlocked salmon with bamboo fly rod and a trolling fly...tried it once in '63 joy...first time I saw one of those, having previously only seen dry flies for Michigan streams, I couldn't believe a double hooked tandem snell in mono about three or more inches...I suggested to the old gentlman(I was 21 then)that instead of his setup why not use my Alcedo Micron setup with a small silver rapalla...his response was a soft native no and slight shake of the head but his expression was identical to the one later that day when I offered him some Old Grand Dad. Never did catch anything on the fly but used the canoe and trolled with the Alcedo setup for small mouth...that worked
