Peter most of the information about the relationship between human and fishes visual sensitivity is based on experiment using macines like the microspectrophotometer, with which the scientists can actually plot the visual sensitivity of the fishes rods and cones. And its much the same for humans, the retinal sensitivity of which has been around for yonks.
When there is a specfic relationship between light transmission in air and water, there must be a relationship between things that live in that light dependant environment. Wouldn't you think. After all that illumination comes from the sun via the atmosphere that surrounds the planet.
I have yet to see any papers on trout, but I'd suspect that its much the same as any trichromat.
And yes chartruse appears to be the most useful colour in the salt anyway.
