There are excellent photos of all major baitforms in "Fly Fishing for Pacific Salmon II, a book I co-authored with Bruce Ferguson and Pat Trotter.
I've only caught a few chinook (kings) off of our Washington beaches, usually juvenile feeders in the 4-6 pound class. However, I have landed several mature chinook in the waters around Langara Island in the Queen Charlottes using fast sinking lines over fairly shallow bottoms. Both Sand Lance and squid patterns proved effectieve.
Why don't you contact me by e-mail? I'd like to swap information with you regarding flies for feeding salmon.
