Dan,

Great looking fly. The keel weighting produces some great irratic action. I have been doing that with the weighting system I shared with you last year.I have found myself cutting the weight to the match the hook size.

Just a simple suggestion for a rabbit substitute. I love the action that rabbit produces but the actual hide backing can be tough to keep in place as it changes size when it transitions from wet to dry over and over.

I have been using a Targus distributed product called "seal fur". It comes on a backing patch and can be crosscut like craft fur but is much shorter than craft fur.

This makes it a perfect match for smaller flies tied in this style. It also has a wonderful natural sheen that is darn hard to beat.
Once glued in place it will not come off, period. It gives the body of the fly the same movement that one gets with natural rabbit.I have yet to find anything negative about it.Great stuff.
Cheers Chas
