Dan, the fly we found the most effective last week was a gray over white clouser tied on a 1/0 jig hook with a good sized pair of chrome brass eyes. The fly definately would nose down at the end of a strip.

Your fly and the one I found to work are about the same size, white for the most part and have the diving clouser action. Lots of similarities. I used no chrome flashabou, only pearl with a pearl ice chenille body as well.

The biggest difference is the top wing. I went from white to gray with a thin line of black holo flashabou and
crystal hair at the very top. I had also tied a fly with a top wing of from the bottom up, white, yellow, black holo flashabou and crystal hair but found that the first mentioned fly with the gray outfished the yellow.

Sturmer White and I found a school of fish on the San Joaquin last Monday afternoon and within two hours caught thirty plus fish from 4-6 pounds. At one point Sturmer made six casts for six fish.

The flies are close enough that I think either of us could have used the other's flies for the same results.
