Nice looking fly Steve. I have tied up a bunch of squid but all with plastic tentacles. I love the look of ostrich but I just don't think it is durable enough. As far as eyes, I have been using a Pete Grey technique. He takes a section of 40# mono, bends it in half and attaches it to the back of the eye with Tuffleye or CCG. This allows the eyes to be tied in on the shank and positioned pretty much anywhere. It allows for a more 3-D look. I can post a pic tonight if you want.

I really like the shank for squid because it allows me to attach it directly to the trailing hook. For my articulated leeches I use 20# dacron. I twist it in one direction and then twist the rabbit in the other direction. I should get a friend to come over and take a few pics while I do it, because it is hard to visualize.
