| We got on the water at 7am to find that the winds had calmed down quite a bit from all these storms running through and headed out in hopes to find some fish!! We were finding some here and there on each stop but they were only shakers to 16 inches so we kept on the move.By 10am we found our 1st school that started giving us some quality legal fish and we stayed on them for a while.I had just got in the mail my new Redington Predator 10wt 8-3 and decided to also bring my 7wt Premium Red Truck rod to see how they handle. There were Bass guys all over the place racing around so it was kinda hard to stay on some of these fish so we ended up moving again. The water was 56-57 degrees with about 5 feet clarity with the fish seeming to grab the flies on a rather slow strip. By our next stop I decided to break out the Predator and acompany it with my over sized Whistler and start targeting some " Big Moes!!". we ran up on our second school of Largemouth which at one point he was pulling a fish out on every cast but I was holding fast that I would pull out Big Moe.I had mad a few cast which I could feel the fish nipping at it but on the next cast I finally got a hit!! LOL I coulnt believe it!! the bass was only 5 inches bigger than the fly!!! :) need less to say I put my big moe set up away and jumped back on my 7wt set up that had landed me plenty of fish up untill then. We continued on finding fish here and there but on our last stop before the sun went down we found some good quality fish. We found a pretty nice school that gave us a few 4lbers but on one of the fish that I was pulling in " Big Moe " appeared from the depths!A nice 15 plus pounder trying to get a closer examination of my fish!! O HELL NO I thought and grabed my big fish set up but I could never get the monster to rise again!! O well with a few more nice fish to the boat we decided to call it a day at about 8pm and made our journey back home. Its been a long time since I've fished that hard for 12hours but it was worth it! :) A [click here to display pictures] |
