From what I've read, the saltwater branch of our sport was born out of innovation and problem-solving (like figuring out how to build a tarpon-appropriate fly reel, get a permit to eat, design a quiet boat for the skinny water, etc.). The times and the puzzles have changed, but I'd still rather find a way to fish well than surrender. Finding new answers is part of the fun (even when the question is "how do I avoid these %&#$@ tower boats, air boats, jet skis...")
