San Joaquin upstream from Mossdale

Has anyone had experience fly fishing upstream from Mossdale on the San Joaquin. We have access to river a few miles up from Mossdale and wondered whether we could find stripers in the area. Looks like we could put in our pontoon boats and float downstream. The water is not clear with visability at about 18" - 24". Looks like a fun area but oculd use a little info before we give it a try.
