Dan,
I am not sure which Gamakatsu hook you ar refering to but the Gamakatsu EWG 60 is the strongest jig hook made in my opinion.
It could be used by a salvage contractor for pulling wrecked ships off the bottom of the ocean. You would pull the cork off your rod before that hook would fail you.
It is only made in a 4/0 size that I know of.
