Hip shooter pins???>>>>

My question is to the "hip" fly fishers who sport the Mangrove Hip Shooter LMDs. Which of the supplied spikes do you find most effective? Long skinny or fat & thick of combinations of both? I found I had to sand paper the thick ones as they had a mold seam ridge that grabbed the fly line & killed the cast.
