GES and I fished it once maybe 7-8 years ago now. As you said there is a TON of shad in there, by the launchramp we used they were in thick. A throw net like in Loreto would have filled any baitbox they were so thick.
All we caught was largemouths. We were hoping to find stripers but never did. The coves held some cover and we found one that had enough shad in it to have some bass feeding on them but it was almost like there was too much shad in there. I was actually using a shad crankbait not a fly back then.
I'm sure there are still stripers in there but everything I've seen on it says the population is quite small now. Supposed to have big crappie but we never looked for them.
Also as you no doubt know it gets huge pressure during the warm months from the ski and jetski crowd.
