Left New Smyrna Beach last week heading for Boca Grande on Florida's west coast. The trip took 3 1/2 days. Stayed off the throttles and enjoyed the sights. Going across the state through Okeechobee Waterway proved to be a great experience. Saw many gators, small tarpon in the locks, bass and one camel. Just for the record, the camel was spotted early in the day and not near cocktail hour.A few tarpon have started showing around Boca Grande but no real push at this point.Saw one 125lb laid up fish yesterday that refused the fly. Water temps are already bouncing around the 75 degree mark so things should crank up soon. I'll hang here for a while before going south to the Everglades. Busy making a few minor repairs to the boat including a new fuel pump to one of the generators. I'll make a lengthy skiff run south to see what's heading our way on Monday. So long for now. |
