I suggest you purchase 30' of LC-13 (Cortland), which will weigh 390 grains. Attach it to your mono running line and false cast it, preferably while double-hauling. Continue to incrementally pay out more of the LC-13 until your BVK "folds up" under the strain - you will easily be able to feel this happen. At this point mark the LC-13 at the tiptop then and measure the distance from that mark to your mono running line. Measure this distance back from the front end of your LC-13, add a foot or two for safety's sake, and cut the end of your LC-13 head back to this point. You will now have a super-fast sinking head which is truly customized to your BVK rod and your casting stroke. I doubt you will end up cutting more than a foot or two off the end of your 30' LC-13 section, if that much. |
