| Based on Jon Makim's calamari post below, I am wondering when and for what species to fish a squid. I have been carrying several around the last few years for Belize and Baja trips but I have never tied one on. I am assumming these would be used for deep water fishing where predators are not keyed in on baitfish (like the fall tarpon congregations around cayes filled with bait or teasing roosters with flatiron herring), and they might eat anything they stumble upon. I am also befuddled about proper size and even color. There are some beautiful patterns out there. THOUGHTS? |
