Robert, I first met Ed while fishing for stripers on SF Bay back in the late 60s. He saw me and Rudy de Luca stomping the stripers at The PG&E power plant at Hunter's Point and he rowed over to introduce himself and to see what we were catching them on. Ed and I exchanged flies: I gave him a Whister and he gave me one of his "Gold Smith" salmon flies. I caught my first king salmon from the Smith River on that fly in 1968 I believe.
