JB,
I find that double hauling is learned much easier through feel than anything else. To learn the feel of that rod loading with the haul, on grass get a reasonable amount of line out of the rod tip laid out strait in front of you, 30 feet or so, lower your rod tip so that it is just about touching the grass, strip any slack out of your line so it is strait and taught. Now start to lift your rod into a back cast, as soon as you see the end of your line start to move make a small, quick haul the stop your rod hand. You'll feel the rod load with the haul, and the line should roll out into a nice back cast. Do this a few times to get familiar with the "feel" of the rod loading from the haul, then start adding a forward cast with a small haul. Make sure your back cast unrolls before starting the forward cast. Good luck. |
