Two great methods:
1) Krieger method - pantomime without rod or just with rod handle or with a pen - do backcast stroke with rod hand - at the same time with the line hand starting next to the rod hand - pull down, then bounce back up to rod hand. Same on forward cast. Get this ingrained, then do it with rod and line.
2) Kreh method - with about 20 ft of fly line outside rod tip, break cast into backcast and forward cast with rod held horizontal first backcast, let line fall to ground then forward cast, let line fall to ground On each stroke, pull line with the line hand, and bounce it back to the rod hand (to reinforce this movement, say out loud Krieger's "down up") After you have the backward cast and forward cast wired separately, do both without letting line fall to ground. If you mess up, let the line fall and start again.
If you can't understand what I wrote, these are presented in DVDs by Krieger and Kreh.
