I've been using them in deep/open waters off Punta Perico (things get deep fast down there). It's an area that I've seen several Marlin/Sails moving around in. I've had most action on a version that's predominantly white with some spotting. Also, I've tied mine so the tentacles are shorter, in relation to the mantle, and splayed outward (using the shorter, curved hackles at the base of a saddle for tentacles). Hopefully, they provide some action but I'm not sure that's the case as the currents are fairly strong in that area and might plaster 'em down.
I tried a darker colored version, similar to baby Humboldt's, without much luck. Probably didn't give it a fair trial tho.... All this discussion has me ready to get down there and start fishin'.... :-) |
