Hi Bill,

I like to place my eyes as you noted between the hook point and bend of the jig hook eye. My Clousers are up to 9" / 10" long so the material keeps the rear floating and this placement of the eyes still produce the jigging action between strips. My main reason I place my eyes here is that it makes a nice tappered nose so to speak plus it gave my Clousers a different look than all the rest when I use to tye this fly commercially.

The tier on Fly Fishing Salt Waters video section ties the eyes closer and ties the belly different too, but it's all good.
