Good looking pattern. I've fished a Squid pattern at La Ventana (Baja Sur) in the past with mixed success. I've always fished them deep for Tuna/Yellowtail. They seem to work for me when Sardinas (bait) are small as in the fall of the year. I don't weight the fly but sink it with a T-14 or T-17 head, count down and jig it several times before retrieving to start again....

My Squid pattern ranges in size from 5" to 7" in length, tied on 1/0 thru 3/0 hooks. The smaller is tied entirely on a long shank hook. The larger sizes are tied with the head on the shank of the hook and the mantle on a tube.
