Hey Dan, I have a new I-pilot unit (8 months) that just started having this problem this weekend....will wrap the the cord around it self (and eventually stop) when ever instructed to anchor the boat or navigate by auto-pilot...only able to steer and fish manually. I called Minn Kota tech this morning and was told that it is a component issue under warranty and that I need to take it into a shop for repair. Bob V
