Jonny,
Would you please comment on the type of weighting you used for these flies and where you put it on the hooks/shanks. Wrapped lead wire, tungsten scud bodies, Clouser eyes, channel lead??? Photos without materials might be the easiest way to show these details. If you've fished these flies, which is your favorite weighting?
