I think a lot has to go into your decision. Many watersheds are banning 2 strokes so if you plan to fish any of those you eliminate the lighter 2 strokes. Now you have the 4strokes and the important thing to look for is weight of the motor. If your boat performed well with the old motor try and match the weight of a new motor to it. For Instance I have a 425# motor when re-powering I want to come as close to that weight as possible. Now you have to select a brand and that choice makes it important to look into your local service centers BEFORE you buy. It's rough having to drive 100 miles to another service center because your local guy is incompetent. Warranty is another thing to consider. Right now several mfg's are offering extended warranties on their motors to boost sales, something to think about. Finally the color...LOL When my wife saw the different motors I was considering she liked the way the white one looked best...UGH! BTW I too am a Yammie fan. (I'm running an '02 HPDI 150 VMax) however their parts are more pricey.
