Hey Dan, I was fishing sand dabs yesterday and used the anchor lock to keep my rig laying flat on the bottom. I got waaaaay more hookups by staying in place than by drifting. I use it for mooching salmon holding over a bait ball. I keep coming up with more and more ways to fish effectively using that feature. My troller is my most important fishing tool these days. I can't say I have had any issues with the cord wrapping as you mentioned.
