David, I whole-heartily agree that with gas prices the way they are now everyone should be sharing the cost of a gas-powered fishing trip. We did that back in the days of the oil embargo when fuel was not only expensive (for the era) but in short supply as well. I've never had a problem doing this and I certainly encourage folks to pay their fair share if buddy-fishing with a pal who is providing the ride to and from and on the water. Sometimes "your fair share" may be just picking up the launching fee or the boat fuel; but ask the driver how he or she would like you to handle your contribution to the day's fishing. Dan
