A while back I was looking for a relatively inexpensive WF floating fly line for large mouth bass fishing with my Sage 5/6 RPL. Aside from being inexpensive, I was primarily looking for a line that wouldn't wilt in the SoFL heat, nor would it get all tangled up when the temps dove (LOL) into the fifties,
I'm not sure, but I think it was on this forum, or perhaps another fly fishing forum, that the Rio Mainstream was recommended. I've been using the freshwater line for about a year now and I must say that it is one great line. Never tangles in the "cold" and never has gone limp during the summer's heat. Also, as I do fish a lot, and although I do drag the line through grass, weeds, and muck, the line is first showing some signs of wear (one crack in the line), This is a very hearty line.
I've been thinking of also using this line for light saltwater fishing. And as It is now almost time to get another line, I was wondering if you guys could tell me what some of the basic differences maybe between these lines and if I would gain anything by going with the saltwater line. |
