Absolutly it has changed the way I fish. First thing, and I hate to say this or sound petty but if they want to fish with me we split the fuel we burn. If you ride with me to the water, factor it in. If I fish with you, I insist I pay my share so it has to go both ways. Ive always brushed it off in the past with thought that " I was going anyways" but cost has gotten out of hand and just can't do it anymore.
Like you, I try and launch where I fish. That doesn't always work on the Delta but i'm trying. Not running tides is a handicap most of the year. Right now, fishing LM it isn't that big of a deal this time of year.
I also have reduced the load in the boat and try and tow with no more than half fuel capacity in the boat. Makes a substantial difference in vehicle consumption.
Today cost about 100 bucks to fish the Delta and we didn't make any long runs. Split down the middle it wasn't to bad.
The most disturbing part is how expensive a solo day on the water is and giving that up is not an option.
Curious about your new Koffler! Which one? Happy with it? |
