As Marcus said, don't run the motor dry at all! That is a good way to damage the impeller.
Motor down all the way for 10 min. After it stops dripping, I tilt mine up. Water will drip out of mine when tilting. I let it sit again for about 5 minutes. Repeat cycle until there aren't any drops. BEFORE you get into the park, do it again briefly. Mine has always been dry but I'd hate to have driven 3+ hours round trip for nothing. Before is in caps above because I've stopped on my way to the guard shack/entrance kiosk to watch some of the tullie elk once. The worker asked me why I stopped.....
FYI, even if you have the front of your boat jacked up, there can still be some water in the bilge area. I get a towel in there to make sure it is dry. |
