I have had problems with neatsfoot oil getting gummy and ultimately sticky creating heat then seizing the drag. I was told about Lubriplate sprinkled with graphite powder by Bill Archuleta and I have never used another lubricant. It really does work great, and I suspect Bill knows more about this stuff than just about anyone, having repaired and maintained thousands upon thousands of reels. Dave
