I know this will get me into more trouble but??? The top bit of the fishes head, right above the mouth holds a bit of empty space and the blood vessels, and optic nerves that feed both eyes. Which are positioned above the mouth. That makes any intrusion into that area very dangerous, since a hole admits water into the cavity, apart from the probable damage.
I think fly guys and others should have a think about jig hooks and where they end up in the fishes head. Most will be into that area close to the eyes.
