Steve,

No - you still need to use some weight - either eyes or keel-weighting. But you don't need very heavy eyes to keel the hook point up. I never use lead eyes anymore. I like the Spirit River Real Eyes.

I also like to rear-keel-weight the hooks which helps provide a radical darting action to the fly. Look for an article on this tying process in the next issue of Fly Fishing in Salt Waters magazine.
