FOR IMMEDIATE Release:
DEREK DeYOUNG/ABEL COLLABORATE ON NEW FOR 2012 BROWN TROUT FINISH
CAMARILLO, Calif. – Montana artist Derek DeYoung, who looks at brown trout from every angle and then represents that view on canvas, has peeled away another layer of his artistic onion: a flank or side view in an extreme close-up vision.
Effervescent blues, browns, reds and a splash of green highlight DeYoung’s latest colorful fly reel collaboration with California tackle manufacturer Abel.
The new multi-colored side flank version of a brown trout showing every nuance of color and character is now available on any size or model Abel Reel at a surcharge of $200.
Michigan native DeYoung was raised on the shores of a small lake where he and his two brothers spent nearly every waking hour chasing pan fish, largemouth bass and northern pike. His career as an artist began around that same time as he began to sketch images of the fish he caught. He subsequently was graduated with a BFA in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids.
DeYoung’s trout representations on Abel reels have become both artistic fly-fishing additions and collectors’ items.
