There is so little innovation left in the design of DD reels, very old hat theories, that it's no wonder that parts seem to be related across the range of makers. What can they come up with that is new stuff????
I have a multiplying fly reel and it's so far in front of DD types it's rather funny that fly anglers cannot seem to realise what they are missing.
And when I got it, I realised what I was missing and couldn't understand why I had waited so long, the long years from the 70's to lift my game.
You can't give me a DD reel now, gold plated, diamond studded or made of platinum. They are worth about 10 cents each in my estimation of values.
Just as the change to double handed rods has removed 9 footers from my inventory. It's long past move on time and I seem to remember that I was regarded as a total idiot when I started using DH rods. Seem to remember a few nasty comments about my stupidity. Different story now though, as the gurus get educated and start using switch sticks and full blooded Scandi type rods.
And it's actually happening here in Oz.
