Yep, We are in a time of maximum friendliness to other predator mammals. Historically humans speared lions, shot sea lions, trapped bears, and generally exerted full dominance on nature. It's only in the last 40 years that it's become taboo to cull predators. If you read "Up and Down California" by Brewer, US Geological Survey in CA mid 1800s, they shot all animals on site. Bears, deer, cougars, rattlesnakes. For food they shot cattle under the assumption they must be Confederate cattle.
