Generally, ecologists have argued that invasive species are bad for the diversity of most communities they invade. These recent debate came about because some other biologists recently argued that this is not necessarily the case (and that in the face of other kinds of ecological changes, even a relatively benign native resident can then become bad for overall community biodiversity). I was simply reporting on this recent debate, and so I wasn't sure what your point about evolution was, and was trying to understand. Still am.
