Ive always been, and still am a fan of Redington rods/reels for there reliability and good value but this reel did not hold up to my abuse while Carp and surf fishing. As you know, Carp gear is subject to lots of mud and grit and the the higher quality reels hold up much longer with less internal issues. My thought process here was it was light, I could bang it around and not worry about it since it was cheap. End the end it cost me a couple of fish due to drag failure so i'm done with it. Carp are not a fish to play around with with an unreliable drag. I also tried a gloomis composite reel for the surf with the same results. Use good quality gear you would use for any other spieces is my suggestion.
