This is super! Thanks for all the details and use reports. It's all very enlightening and helpful.
As for the jig hooks: there is one very important benefit beside the action they help impart and that's how well they hook and hold a fish, usually taking purchase in the top or corner of the mouth, rarely gill-hooking a fish. This is hugely important to me and is one of the main reasons I started tying all my Whistler patterns on jig hooks .
I'm going to tie up some of your patterns on jig hooks, keel-weighting them for our delta stripers. I thinks they'll cast just fine with an 8 or 9 rod lined with a T-14 head or integrated custom cut.
There's sure cute little buggers and I'll bet our stripers will think so too.
