Hey Steve, I am currently throwing a 14 foot 9 weight sage TCR for big beach stripers, and recently had the chance to try a friend's TCX 12"6 7 weight and got to put a good bend in it on a striper. These are both really good striper rods I think since they recover quickly, but for your intended use in socal I would want something even lighter for enjoying perch, corbina, and croaker. My rec would be to look at the lighter TCX switch rods, the 6 weight at 11"9 could be just the ticket. They are a very pricy rod, but if they are within your budget I think you would find it tough to do wrong here. Getting into lines for these rods is a whole other can of worms, but depending on your application rio outbounds and outbound shorts will both work will on this rod in the right grain window.

Hey Bobby V....word on the beach is you beat the perch up down in Monterey Bay, good going man!
