|Hey Steve, I am currently throwing a 14 foot 9 weight sage TCR for big beach stripers, and recently had the chance to try a friend's TCX 12"6 7 weight and got to put a good bend in it on a striper. These are both really good striper rods I think since they recover quickly, but for your intended use in socal I would want something even lighter for enjoying perch, corbina, and croaker. My rec would be to look at the lighter TCX switch rods, the 6 weight at 11"9 could be just the ticket. They are a very pricy rod, but if they are within your budget I think you would find it tough to do wrong here. Getting into lines for these rods is a whole other can of worms, but depending on your application rio outbounds and outbound shorts will both work will on this rod in the right grain window. |
Hey Bobby V....word on the beach is you beat the perch up down in Monterey Bay, good going man!
