In the 70's Randall Kaufman popularized deer hair floating dragon fly nymphs behind sinking lines for fishing the weeds at Crane Prairie Reservoir. Still works great but no one seems to use it.

I use a floating damsel adult behind a type 2 line with a leader that is as long as the water is deep. A few quick strips brings the fly to the bottom then it rises to the surface like naturals do once they are done laying their eggs on sub surface vegetation.
