I'm surprised no one mentioned this additional advantage of weedless flies. You don't have to get close to the mangroves to get your fly back. Getting close and disturbing the mangroves releases a hornets nest of some of the most blood thirsty, viscious mosquitos on the planet, especially in the everglades proper. You can actually hear and see them coming as soon as the bush is rustled. I was fishing with Fordyce in there one time and we both thought we'd need a transfusion in just the short time it took to get my fly unstuck. Rob said "Don't ever do that again."
