Anglers for whom balancing their tackle is a more serious concern than balancing their checkbook commonly pay a $500 premium for a rod which weighs an ounce less. A reel which weighs an ounce less (to balance the lighter rod) may involve a premium of more than $500 - to deceive a fish.
At some point conspicuous consumption discredits the consumer.
