Hey Joel,

If I misread your tone my apologies. It's certainly OK to "beg to differ"; and "most of us" is "all of us" that don't feel like it's a big deal to put a heavier (we're only talking a few ounces or less) reel on a lighter rod. My eight-weight still feels like an eight-weight with a Riptide or a Tempest III on it. I don't feel like I've turned my 10-weight into a 12 when I put a Gulfstream on it in order to increase my cranking power and speed when fishing for false albacore in shallow water and so on. But I get your perspective too.

And, you know very well that "anyone" - whoever they are - can express a different opinion on this board so long as they do it civilly. You didn't need to ask that question. My response to you wasn't an admonishment of your view but how you expressed it - but like I said, if I misread you, my apologies.

Dan
