|We had a great 10 day trip to Baja. Baja made me feel right at home and sent a tropical storm Georgette right over top of us. we missed one day due to the storm. Bait was only an issue one day but only a minor irritation on that day. |
YFT were around and were taken almost everyday. The dorado fishing was excellent. Most fish were from 8 to 15 pounds and were perfect on 8 wts and crease flies. Lots of ladyfish and the other inshore critters. There were a ton of small rooster but they were unusually picky--Sarah caught 6 or 8 for the trip and me not so much. It was really cool to see a dorado on a sand flat in 5 to 8 feet of water cruising and willing to take a fly.
The last day for our group the current was nil while we were tuna fishing in 90 feet of water and my boat mate landed two nice barred pargo on fly. We were using 34' heads of T-17 and running lines.
Sarah and i fished an extra day with Gary and we went looking for big roosters. We found a couple of toads and while they were gobbling our live sardines 5 bigger dorado crashed the party. Roosters left but we managed the dorado.
Great trip looking forward to returning.
