I for one would LOVE to see some flyrods with something other than cork. Cork looks nice when its new, but in short order it usually gets dirty and pitted, detereorating the rod's appearance and maybe even being a little less comfortable. Many guys may notice that the trend in bass rods the last few years has been towards foam or hypalon grips. I for one have embraced this movement, and am currently switching all or most of my conventional bass rods to foam grips. Not only are they more durable, but they are EXTREMELY comfortable to fish with. With a flyrod, if you are making a ton of casts in a day your hand may feel a little tender afterwards...you might even get a little blister or two. With foam you would not experience that, since it's a softer, more comforting surface. Go away cork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
