|Almost forgot. It's Hell Getting old!!!!|
Don Memmer(Memms), from Hilo, gave me this advice prior to our trip to the Big Island.
Leave your booties at home as well as your flats wading boots. I've got Simms flats wading boots & light duty dive booties. When you get to Hawaii, go to Wal-Mart& buy a pair of "tabbies". They look like the Patagonia wading boots from a few years ago. They are black neoprene, with a medium heavy/flexible sole & they zip up the front. About 8-10" high. That's what Memms & I wore for our fishing.
I used them in Belize this last February when I knew I was going to be fishing primarly the sand flats. Used them inside my fins out on Glover's Atoll when we were diving or snorkeling & we knew we were coming back into the beach through the coral. Also, used them out in "permit alley" area, when fishing, as there was not that much in the way of areas of heavy coral. Did have my Simms boots along just in case. They go with me on my fishing trips to the salt, one of the best tips(thanks, Memms) & investments($14.95) I've made in fishing gear!!!
