Saltwater: dogtooth tuna
River: Niugini black bass (pound for pound the toughest
fish swimming.
The pics are Trey Combs with an 80pound dogtooth he had licked and under the boat when a couple of reef sharks (whalers) decided to get into the act.
The Gulf (of Papua) Grand Slam contains barramundi, saratoga, sooty grunter and a black bass...actually a snapper and Cubera relative. I went 50pound leaders trying to hold them and then started breaking flylines... [click here to display pictures] |
